Online Singing Lessons Setup Guide (Zoom Sound & Equipment)
Everything you need to get the best sound and experience from your lesson
🎤 START HERE – PLEASE READ BEFORE YOUR FIRST LESSON
To ensure clear sound and avoid echo or feedback, please follow these::
✔ Use the Zoom app (not browser)
✔ Turn ON Original Sound for Musicians (view step-by-step guide↓)
✔ Play your backing track on your own device (not through Zoom audio)
✔ Only ONE device should be connected to Zoom audio in the same room
✔ Choose a quiet space and sit where I can see you clearly
👉 For best sound quality, we recommend using one device for Zoom and a separate device for your music
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Joining Zoom on two devices in the same room with sound on will cause echo and feedback.
CHOOSE YOUR SET UP
👉 Here’s how your lesson will usually be set up:

⚙️ Connection & Setup Tips
✔ Use the Zoom app (not browser)
✔ Close unnecessary apps or windows
✔ Ask others at home to pause streaming during your lesson
⚙️ Internet Connection
For best results:
• Stay close to your Wi-Fi router
• Use a Wi-Fi booster if needed
• Wired connection (Ethernet) is ideal but not essential
🎶 Your Lesson Setup (Music & Singing Folder)
To get the most out of your lesson, it’s important to have your music and resources ready and easy to access.
📂 Your Digital Singing Folder
✔ Have your singing folder open before your lesson starts
✔Your folder includes lyrics, backing tracks, lesson notes, and helpful resources for both lessons and home practice
✔ You can log in via the website www.ronni.co.uk, top right or here is a direct link to My Singing Folder
If you ever have trouble accessing your folder, just let me know — I’m happy to help 😊
🎵 Playing Your Music
✔ Most songs we use are from YouTube
✔ You can play these from your singing folder or open YouTube in another tab or device
✔ For the best experience, using a second device for your music works really well
👉 Sometimes tailored audio files are also uploaded to your folder — especially if they’ve been edited by Ronni
✔ Always play your backing track from your own device
✔ Do not play music through Zoom audio
💻 Split Screen (Optional but Helpful)
✔ Open Zoom on one side of your screen
✔ Open your singing folder or music on the other
This makes it much easier to:
• Follow lyrics
• Control your music
• Stay focused during your lesson

🎧 Zoom Sound Settings (For Singing)
Zoom is designed for speech, so we need to adjust it for singing.
👉 Turn on "Original Sound for Musicians"
Original Sound is essential for singing lessons — please ensure this is enabled.
Set background noise suppression to Low (or Off) to avoid affecting your vocal clarity
If you don’t see “Original Sound ON” on your screen, it may not be set correctly

👉 Not sure how to turn on original sound? 💻 Mac / PC (Recommended) ✔ Best option for sound quality Open the Zoom app Click your profile picture (top right) Click Settings Click Audio Tick: ✔ Original Sound for Musicians Tick: ✔ High-fidelity music mode Join your lesson Click “Turn On Original Sound” (top left of screen) 📱 iPad / Tablet ✔ Works really well for lessons Open the Zoom app Tap Settings (bottom right) Tap Meetings Turn ON: ✔ Use Original Sound Join your lesson Tap More (•••) Tap Enable Original Sound 📱 Phone (iPhone / Android) ⚠️ Works, but not ideal for singing lessons Open the Zoom app (not browser) Tap Settings (bottom right) Tap Meetings Turn ON: ✔ Use Original Sound Join your lesson Tap More (•••) Tap Enable Original Sound ⚠️ Why phones are not the best option • Smaller speakers = quieter backing tracks • Microphone struggles to pick up both voice + music clearly • Harder to position for posture and visibility • Limited screen space for Zoom + music 👉 If possible, use an iPad, tablet, or laptop instead
⏱️ About Time Delay
Zoom has a slight delay — this is completely normal.
Please always sing along with your own backing track on your side, rather than trying to sing in sync with me through Zoom.
